I’m not a big fan of New Year resolutions, but January – the first month of a brand new year – always seems like a good time for a bit of quiet reflection, an opportunity to look back on the past year and consider which bits went well, and which bits could do with a bit of a tweak.
2015 was a busy old year for Ditsy Blue…way back in February I created my first set of beads to sell and opened up my bead shops on Folksy and Etsy, which initially ran alongside my jewellery shops. Later in the year I decided to combine the two, so my beads moved in with my jewellery!
In April a selection of my jewellery went on display and for sale in The Gallery at Cockington Court…a beautiful space showcasing stunning work from some very talented local makers and designers, then in the summer I made some changes to my website to freshen it up and make my shop more inviting and user friendly…it’s all so much prettier now!
The biggest highlight of the year came in September when I was asked by the lovely people over at Folksy to be their featured maker…wow, what an honour! That was a pretty busy time…you can read more about that in my blog post here.
So lots of great things happened, but there are still lots of things on my to do list for 2016!
I’m going to be working on some new beads and jewellery and doing a few more shop updates this year, and I’m also going to be moving in a few different directions and trying out some new (to me) techniques to bring even more individuality to my work. I have a new-ish passion for vintage beads…not so good for my accounts, but hey!
Exciting times…Happy New Year!
